This film was created as an adaptation of the original play by Arthur Miller. He was directly involved with the screenplay of the movie, and it eventually earned an Acadamy Award nomination for Best Screenplay, Miller’s only nomination. This movie had an advantage in its adaptation as Arthur Miller was the original author of the Crucible (1953), and thus provided direct imput.
